I will never forget the day I found out my daughter was breech. I was 38 weeks pregnant and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "We need to schedule a c section." I was devastated. Shockingly, a week later, only a couple days before I was supposed to have a c section, we found out she flipped! What I have learned since then is that a c-section birth wouldn't have been the end of the world. As I have seen many women have a c section I have witnessed first hand the strength and beauty that goes along with it. It is truly inspiring.
When this gorgeous mama informed me, at 38 weeks, that her daughter was still breech, I knew exactly how she felt. I tried to comfort her as best as I knew how, but I know its hard news to take. When you have a birth plan in mind and all of a sudden that birth plan gets thrown out the window and you only have a few days to prepare for a new one, it can be overwhelming. She handled it like a champ.
When I arrived to the St Frances hospital the morning of the scheduled c section, I was amazed at the strength from both Mom and Dad. As they were preparing to head back,I was capturing all that I could, knowing it wouldn't be until recovery until I would see them again. But a twist of fate happened, and because the mama (who is also a photographer) happened to of photographed the nurses sister before, they brought me some scrubs and said I could go back! I was stoked, this would be the first time I was allowed to go back to the operating room during surgery. I am so thankful I did. So many precious memories documented that would have otherwise been just a blur in their minds.
Congratulations Sipes family! Wren is absolutely precious!
